The Ugly Side of Retin-A And How To Survive It!
Retinoids, a double edged sword. They are AMAZING at treating acne, smoothing skin texture, and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. However, in order to get to all that goodness you might have to endure the redness and flaky skin that occurs meanwhile your skin builds up its tolerance to the medication, a.k.a retinization. The good news is that not everyone goes through retinization; but if you are thinking about starting treatment, or even more-so if you are smack dab in the middle of the ugly phase, you need this post in your life.

Top 10 Amazon Purchases
I must confess, I have an addiction and the amazon prime boxes piling up in my garage are my tell. As a mom of two, it isn't always easy to get to the store and buy what I need. That's when I turn to Amazon prime, my hero!
I have always loved reading about others favorite Amazon purchases, so of course I had to share my amazing finds with you. I've compiled a list of my all time favorites purchases, items that I've found useful or just simply really enjoyed. I hope you like!
DETAILS
1. Tumbler Handle - I have never been one to drink a lot of water so I had to make an effort when I was pregnant. I had a large 30 oz Tumbler that I carried around everywhere but found it really cumbersome and uncomfortable to carry when I was juggling other things in my hands.
Naturally I looked for a solution on Amazon, and it didn't disappoint. They have handles for tumblers, y'all! I picked the one that had the most comfortable looking handle and it is a game changer. It is super comfortable to carry and helps me stay on top of being hydrated. Absolutely love it.
2. Duvet Cover Set - I have two dogs who love to roll in the mud so all white sheets are essential. You might think that I'm crazy but I feel that white sheets are the easiest to keep clean because of good ol' bleach and Amazon has come through once again with THE softest duvet cover under $27.
3. Color Changing Alarm Clock - attention all sleep deprived moms! If you have a child who keeps waking up way too early, you need this clock in your life. It has helped me change my child's internal clock from 5 am to 7 am. In short, the clock turns green at the designated wake up time and you tell your child that it is bedtime until the clock turns green. It also has a built in sound machine, sleep timer, and the clock's face goes from a sleep face to a happy smily face. Absolutely a must if you are also struggling with an early waker.
4. Baby's First Spoons - If you have a baby who is learning to feed themselves, these spoons are a must have. They make it so easy for baby to get food onto the spoon and it doesn't matter which side they use because the spoon is able to grab food from both sides. Big bonus, they double as teethers!
5. Silicone Baking Mats - If you bake, you need these mats in your life. Silicone is my new obsession when baking. Everything releases so easily without falling apart and is so easy to clean. Not to mention you don't have to keep buying aluminum or parchment paper. My only suggestion is to NOT use soap when washing these as they can absorb scents and then everything you bake will taste like the fragrance of your soap. I mad that mistake with my first set but I love them so much I went ahead and ordered a second set.
6. Microfiber Facial Cleansing Cloths - These cleansing cloths are game changers to my nighttime skin routine. I honestly look forward to removing my makeup every night because of these babies. I cleanse my skin with oil and then take one and soak it with steaming hot water and place it over my face for a couple of seconds before removing all of the oil cleanser. They are super soft, remove every trace of makeup, and feel like a mini spa session.
7. Grape Cutter - Game. Changer. when it comes to cutting cherry tomatoes and grapes. My son adores both but it was such a pain to quarter every single grape or tomato. Naturally, Amazon had a solution. Simply put it the grape and push the handle through and you have a quartered grape in seconds. Amazing!
8. Apple Watch Stand - I love my watch but found I wasn't charging it every night and it kept dying on me. I went to Amazon for help and sure enough there was a little stand for the charger. Something about having an upright charging station made it easier to just remove and place my watch in its home every night. No more dying battery!
9. Apple Watch Bands - speaking of my apple watch, Amazon also came through with the cutest and most affordable watch bands. I like to have a dressy one as well as a one for working out.
10. Egg Maker - I love hard boiled eggs but I could never get peeling them or the timing right. Once again, Amazon had just the right product. This cooker makes my eggs come out perfect every time and peeling them is super easy. I just run them under cold water, crack and the shell peels right off. Love it!

Favorite YSL Beauty Products: Shop The Fall Sale!
I am so excited to share with you my favorite Yves Saint Laurent beauty products, just in time for their Fierce Fall Sale where everything is 20% off! If you've been following me for a while, you know I am obsessed with their balms as well as their lipsticks. They are by far my favorite luxury beauty line when it comes to lip products.
Lately I have been all about that newborn mom life and often don't have time to apply liner and lipstick so I have been gravitating towards the YSL balms like the ROUGE VOLUPTÉ SHINE OIL-IN-STICK or the Voluptè Liquid Balm. These are so easy to apply I don't need a mirror or liner, major bonus when you have a million balls to juggle and have very little to no time for yourself.

How To Get Long Voluminous Lashes From A $5 Dollar Mascara!
I am so excited to be sharing one of my latest beauty obsessions with y'all! The icing on the cake is that it retails for $4.99, you're welcome.
I truly believe that you can have the most amazing mascara formula but if your application technique isn't right, then you can easily end up with clumpy and spidery looking lashes. Technique is what takes this $5 tube of mascara and makes it preform! I'm listing the step-by-step instructions as well as a video of the application process and everything I am using.
Step 1: Wipe Off Excess
Wipe ALLLLLLL excess mascara off of the wand. That means going completely around the entire wand (including the tip) and scraping the excess along the top of the tube.
Step 2: Wiggle At Base Of Lash Line To Create Volume
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. The secret in creating full and voluminous lashes is in wiggling the wand at the base of the lash line. This also doubles in creating the illusion of liner. Win, win.
Step 3: Move Wand From Mid Shaft Through Tips Of Lashes In Straight Upward Motions
It also helps to "fluff" the individual lashes by tilting the brush at a 90 degree angle and running it through the lashes in an upward motion.

NOTE: if you find that you've created any clumps or lashes that have stuck together, simply clear the wand again without adding any additional product and use it as a spool to brush/comb through the lashes from the base through the tips.
