Monthly Must Haves: August Edition

Welcome to the first edition of my ‘Monthly Must Haves.’ It is a blog post containing my mommy, beauty, and lifestyle must-haves for the month.  These are items that helped me thrive and am sure will make your life a whole lot easier 😉 So, without further delay here are the favorites:

MOMMY FAVORITES:

When you have a little one who wont stop crying, he isn't sick, doesn't need a new diaper, isn't hungry, and isn't sleepy... chances are its colic. These God sent bottles help prevent the endless cries caused by an upset tummy. My son use to spit up A LOT. I purchased these bottles and viola, the number of spit ups has substantially decreased and the fussy tummy is a thing of the past. Absolutely love these.

Can we say drool city? As soon as baby turned three months old, we were swimming in a pool of drool. His outfits would get completely soaked through and I would always be worried that he would get sick from having the wet onesie on his chest. In came the bandana bibs. Not only are they super cute, they also catch all of his drool and keep his outfits nice and dry. I purchased this set from Amazon for $26.97. Such a good deal!

Honestly, who has time to keep running out to the store to purchase diapers and wipes. The Honest Diaper delivery service has been a major life savor. You can tailor the dates and quantity of delivery, add or deduct items, and the diapers are just simply cute. I have tried Huggies, Pampers, and the Honest Company. I honestly (see what I did there?) think they are the most absorbent of the three. Each bundle comes with 6 packs of diapers, 4 packs of wipes, and free delivery. I just confirmed my order for the Fall diapers and I am in love with the new prints!

BEAUTY FAVORITES:

1. Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation

I found this amazing foundation because of Taralyn. Thank you T for once again steering me in the direction of greatness. If you are an oily monster then you are going to LOVE this foundation. If you are combination then I would recommend using a heavier moisturizer or primer before applying this full coverage liquid goodness. If you are on the fairer side then you will love the color selection. I am usually paler than the palest shades in most foundations and this range offered something even for me!

Why do I love this foundation? Full Coverage, great color range, long wearing, and fairly light for the amount of coverage it provides. It's an all around win for combo to oily gals!

2. Clinique Moisture Surge

For days when you are not wanting to apply a heavy moisturizer, the Clinique Moisture Surge should be your go to. I have been using this moisturizer for months and am absolutely head over heels. It is a gel like consistency and feels like you have absolutely nothing on your face, yet it magically manages to fully hydrate you. You get a lot for your money as a little goes a long way. I am still working on my first travel sized container!

This is another amazing and affordable find for fairer skin tones. I use the Stargazer compact as a setting powder. This is the ONLY powder that manages to actually brighten my skin and doesn't settle in to fine lines. Coming in at under $6, this is a total win!

LIFESTYLE FAVORITES:

1. FitBit Blaze

I have never been one for watches. I did, however, want a really good fitness tracker. After a ton of research, my husband and I purchased the FitBit Charge HR. I loved the Charge HR but it just wasn't very esthetically pleasing. In came the newly released Fitbit Blaze.

I friggin love it! You either love or hate the design. I happen to love it. I do recommend getting a screen protector if you are rough on your hands as the glass can scratch easily. I also purchased various bands off of Amazon in order to interchange the tracker so that it matches whatever I am wearing.

I also fully appreciate all of the features it provides now that I've had my son. It tracks my steps and activity (holding me accountable), you can set up challenges with friends (huge motivator on days where you don't feel like moving), and tracks my sleep (or lack thereof). All in all, it is the best fitness tracker out there with a fairly stylish flair.

2. Contigo Travel Tumblers

The best travel mugs ever! Why? They are spill proof and can keep your beverages hot or cold for hours. Did I mention they are spill proof. Go ahead, make your morning coffee and drag it back to bed along with your newborn... no spills! Obviously, I don't just use it for travel. If you are an extremely busy person, I am pretty certain you have made the perfect cup of coffee only to find out its gone cold from neglect. That will no longer be the case after using these Contigo Travel mugs. I used these through law school and now mommyhood. They have been a tried and true staple through the sleepiest of times and I hope they can be of much use and enjoyment to you as they have been to me.

3. Roku Media Player

Who has time for cable TV? Am I right? I love the Roku Media Player because it lets me watch TV and movies on my  own time... when the baby is asleep. With the Roku you have access to YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Google Play, HBO Now, and much more. If you have seen my daily planner inserts, my "self care" is often Netflix or something else off of the Roku. Absolutely love it.

Hope you enjoyed taking a peak in to this month's favorites! Let me know if you have used any of these or if you have any new favorites of your own.

                                                                                                                                                                    Maria Elena
